Lenovo LOQ 15AHP11 is a Budget Gaming Option That Checks a lot of Boxes

Lenovo’s LOQ line represents the company’s push into the budget gaming segment, positioned just below the premium Legion brand. While Legion’s gaming line of laptops, such as the 5i and 7i, emphasizes cutting-edge design and enthusiast-grade features, LOQ aims to deliver performance at a lower price tag without sacrificing the essentials.

The LOQ 15AHP11, powered by AMD Ryzen 200 Series processors and NVIDIA’s new GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs, is Lenovo’s latest attempt to balance affordability, performance, and durability. We’ve been using it for the past couple of weeks across various tasks, even for typing this, and it does the job handily, but it also begs the question of what price you can justify for its budget tag before you prefer its Legion counterpart.

Lenovo LOQ 15AHP11 – Display and Build

The LOQ 15AHP11 we have is equipped with a 15.3-inch WUXGA (1920*1200, 165Hz) IPS LCD display that features 100% sRGB coverage and X-Rite color calibration, making it suitable for both gaming and creative work. I’ve gotten used to OLED panels recently, so switching back to LCD is a big difference, but the panel on this laptop does the job and is sufficient for most tasks.

It also has pretty good viewing angles, perfect for watching your favorite movies or videos with a group.

Physically, the laptop weighs around 2.1kg and comes in a Luna Grey finish. The design is understated compared to Legion’s more aggressive aesthetic, but still modern enough to stand out. The lid and its hinges are built well enough that it can be opened with one finger, with minimal movement from the base of the chassis. It is a pretty heavy laptop, but it feels solid enough overall to carry around without worry.

The keyboard offers either 1-zone or 24-zone RGB backlighting with Lenovo’s TrueStrike technology, and if you’ve ever typed on a Lenovo keyboard before, you’ll be familiar with its accuracy and satisfying feel.

Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, 2x USB-A 3.2 and 1x USB-C ports, HDMI 2.1, and RJ45 Ethernet. Ports are spread out through its left and right sides, but most are concentrated at the back.

It can be argued that the selection is pretty lackluster, especially with the lack of an SD card slot, but it at least includes the essential ones.

Sadly, it still comes with a massive power brick, which I’m not a fan of. Carrying both the laptop and the power brick for long periods is never advisable, and it’s quite disappointing that the LOQ 15AHP11 cannot be charged via USB-C.

Performance Hardware

The LOQ 15AHP11 we tested has the AMD Ryzen 7 250 processor, offering strong multi-core performance and efficiency, and it goes without saying that most tasks like browsing, media consumption, and typing up reports can be handled with ease. Paired with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5050 (up to an RTX 5060), gamers can expect AI-enhanced rendering, DLSS 4 upscaling, and ray tracing support.

With pretty decent specs across the board, it’s a shame this specific SKU only has a 512GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. While the 16GB RAM allocation is acceptable, anything below a 1TB SSD is quite paltry, so this is a big consideration before you purchase one!

Options scale up to 32GB of DDR5 at 5600 MT/s, while storage configurations range from 512GB to 2TB PCIe Gen4 SSDs.

Lenovo’s Hyperchamber Cooling System is a standout feature. Redesigned airflow, Falcon fans, and 3D copper pipes keep the laptop cool even during marathon gaming sessions, keeping hot sections away from your palms. When combined with Lenovo AI Engine+, the system dynamically tunes CPU and GPU performance based on the workload, and it works almost as effectively as its Legion counterparts.

Lenovo LOQ 15AHP11 – Gaming Performance

Of course, we won’t let a laptop go without playing some games on it, and we managed to try out various titles that would be a good test for the LOQ 15AHP11.

We tried Crimson Desert, Death Stranding 2, and Pragmata, all while unplugged from a power source, to determine the base performance levels.

Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert is one of the most visually demanding open-world RPGs out right now. On the LOQ 15AHP11 with RTX 5050, the game runs decently at 1920×1200 resolution with medium settings and DLSS set to balanced with no frame generation. It mostly sticks to 30 FPS, which is serviceable, but there are texture pop-ups here and there and some jagged edges on certain textures.

There’s always a choice to lower some settings, such as sticking to 1080p and switching DLSS to performance with frame generation to hit 60 FPS, but even without these adjustments, the game is certainly playable.

The Hyperchamber Cooling puts in the work here, and the fans are audible, ensuring sustained performance during extended exploration and combat sequences.

Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2 emphasizes cinematic visuals and complex physics. The LOQ 15AHP11 handles the game quite well, maintaining a mostly locked 30 FPS at 1920×1200 resolution with high settings (ray tracing on) and DLSS set to balanced, with no frame generation. At medium settings, frames can shoot up to 50 FPS, with frame generation raising it to 60 FPS.

Considering we tried the game on an unplugged LOQ 15AHP11, which can lower some toggles and presets due to power-saving settings, it performed pretty well overall.

Capcom’s Pragmata is both technically demanding and visually stunning, but it is the most optimized among the three titles thanks to the RE engine. On the LOQ 15AHP11, the RTX 5050 GPU manages around 55-60 FPS at 1920×1200 resolution with high settings (ray tracing on) and DLSS set to balanced with no frame generation.

This is exceptional performance, all things considered, and while the Legion line of laptops might push higher frame rates, the LOQ still delivers a stable and immersive experience thanks to its 165Hz display.

The Lenovo LOQ 15AHP11 strikes a good balance between affordability and performance, featuring AMD Ryzen 200 Series processors and NVIDIA RTX 50 Series GPUs. It can handle most productivity tasks with ease and is surprisingly capable with gaming across demanding titles like Crimson Desert, Death Stranding 2, and Pragmata.

For students, casual gamers, or anyone seeking a versatile laptop that can handle both work and play, the LOQ 15AHP11 is a strong contender. That said, its retail price might make you second-guess going a step further to get a Legion laptop instead.

The Lenovo LOQ 15AHP11 is now available across Lenovo authorized retailers starting at PHP 85,995.
