Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Will Use Your FF7 Remake Save Data in an Interesting Way
Final Fantasy fans have much to look forward to when Final Fantasy VII Rebirth launches on February 29, 2024. Apart from a meaty offering of “nearly 100 hours,” the game will also reward players who have played and have save data for Final Fantasy VII Remake and the Intermission DLC.
According to the PlayStation Blog, players will receive “special bonuses” if they have save data from playing the Remake and the Intermission DLC. Director Naoki Hamaguchi says that “each game’s balancing is done independently and a player’s levels and abilities will not carry over from one game to the next. However, we have created some special bonuses for fans who played the previous game, allowing them to start with a little something extra.”
To give extra context to this statement, Hamaguchi prefaced it by saying that this remake project is a trilogy, and each entry will be a standalone game in its own right.
Well, what would these special bonuses be? According to the information on the PlayStation Store, it says that players who open up Final Fantasy VII Rebirth with the aforementioned saved data from the previous titles will receive the following:
”FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE” (PS4 / PS5)
• Summon Materia: Leviathan
FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE EPISODE INTERmission
• Summon Materia: Ramuh
*Save data must be saved on the PS5 console.
That’s two summon materia awarded to players with save data, but take note that these save files must be on the PS5 console for the bonuses to take effect in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. It is currently unknown when these bonuses will be given and how they will be claimed.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is coming out on February 29, 2024, on PlayStation 5.
