Lucasfilm and Production I.G are teaming up once again to expand the galaxy far, far away with Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi. The 8‑episode limited anime series will premiere August 5, 2026, exclusively on Disney+ Philippines.
The trailer and teaser poster were unveiled at a special panel during Anime Expo 2026 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, with supervising director Kenji Kamiyama, director Shunsuke Tada, and producer Hitoshi Ito leading the reveal.
A New Banner: Star Wars Visions Presents
This marks the launch of the “Star Wars: Visions Presents” banner, designed to tell longer‑form anime stories within the Star Wars universe. The series picks up after the acclaimed shorts The Ninth Jedi and The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.
The story follows Lah Kara, continuing her Jedi training under Margrave Juro. Together with a fellowship of Jedi‑in‑training, Kara embarks on a quest to save her father — a journey of self‑discovery and destiny.
Creative Team and Voice Cast
The creative team behind Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi is led by director Shunsuke Tada, with the script penned by Mitsuyasu Sakai and overall supervision from Kenji Kamiyama. Production duties are handled by Hitoshi Ito and Kanako Shirasaki, while executive producers include James Waugh, Jacqui Lopez, Josh Rimes, Justin Leach, and Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, with Caroline Keller serving as co‑producer.
The English dub features returning voice talent such as Kimiko Glenn as Lah Kara, Andrew Kishino as Juro, Masi Oka as Ethan, Patrick Seitz as Homen, JP Karliak as Gramps, Simu Liu as Lah Zhima, and Neil Kaplan reprising his role as The Narrator. Joining them are new cast members Feodor Chin as Gennoh, Young Mazino as Nawaam, Chase Sui Wonders as Tafflah, and Keone Young as Kwana.
Meanwhile, the original Japanese voice cast sees the return of Chinatsu Akasaki as Lah Kara, Tetsuo Kanao as Juro, Hiromu Mineta as Ethan, Hinata Tadokoro as Homen, Cho as Gramps, and Shinichiro Miki as Lah Zhima, with Akio Otsuka once again lending his voice to The Narrator.
