Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has officially premiered on Netflix, bringing fans back to the neon-lit streets of Night City with an all-new standalone story from CD PROJEKT RED and acclaimed animation studio TRIGGER.
Alongside the anime’s launch, CD PROJEKT RED has also unveiled the Edgerunners 2 Update, officially known as Update 2.5, for Cyberpunk 2077. The free update is set to arrive on October 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, introducing a host of new content and features inspired by the newly released anime series.
A New Story in Night City
Four years after the debut of the critically acclaimed Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, CD PROJEKT RED and TRIGGER return with another emotional and action-packed journey set within the universe of Cyberpunk 2077.
Unlike its predecessor, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 follows a completely new cast of characters, each navigating the dangers, ambitions, and harsh realities of life in Night City. The standalone series explores interconnected stories centered on a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent, and a Snake Nation netrunner.
The new installment dives deeper into themes of vengeance, redemption, and survival, offering fresh perspectives on the dystopian future that fans have come to love.
Familiar Talent Returns Behind the Scenes
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is directed by Kai Ikarashi, with Kanno Ichigo serving as Lead Character Designer. Returning creative partners include Masahiko Otsuka and Hugo Award-winning writer Bartosz Sztybor, who takes on the roles of showrunner, story writer, and producer.
Both Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 are available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Cyberpunk 2077 Gets the Edgerunners 2 Update
CD PROJEKT RED has confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will receive the Edgerunners 2 Update, or Update 2.5, on October 22. The update will introduce anime-inspired content from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 along with additional new items and gameplay features for players to discover.
The update will launch first on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version scheduled to follow shortly afterward.
While specific details remain under wraps for now, the studio has confirmed that a special REDstreams broadcast on October 21 will provide fans with a first look at everything included in Update 2.5. Official patch notes are also expected to be released on the same day.
