Black Myth: Wukong is looking like the next best game you have not heard of yet

We’ve honestly never heard of the game too, until today, but it looks absolutely incredible. Developed by a Chinese indie studio named ‘Game Science’, Black Myth: Wukong dropped a 13 minute gameplay trailer out of nowhere and for a game that has probably yet to sign publishing or distribution deals of any sort, this is hugely impressive.

Check out this mouth watering gameplay trailer below:

You can tell that the art style is distinctly Chinese, but don’t let that distract you from the fact that the game looks, and more importantly, “feels” next-gen, even more so than other games we know of from bigger companies. Not to mention that it already looks like a polished effort, despite the fact that this trailer is based from a pre-alpha build. The footage seen above has been in development for more than 2 years using Unreal Engine 4. Wild.

According to a series of Tweets by Industry Analyst Daniel Ahmad, Black Myth is a single player action RPG game that will be based on the “Journey to the West” mythology stories and will focus on the Monkey King (Wukong) and his many abilities, up to 72 of which are in the game.

You’ll be glad to know that the game is planned for release on the PC and consoles as per the developers but don’t hold your breath just yet since it’s probably a couple of years out from release, right smack in the heart of the next generation.

Game Science started back in 2014 with ex-Tencent games employees and have created mostly PC and Mobile games, with Black Myth possibly being their most ambitious endeavor yet. You can bet Sony and Microsoft phone lines are already busy making some arrangements.

In the mean time, feast your eyes on some of the official screenshots of the game below.

Though it’s in Chinese, you can learn more about Black Myth: Wukong through its official website.
