Smart supports Sibol with Php 1M Per Gold Medal In The “GET GOLD!” Campaign
“Kakacomputer mo yan!” has quite a different ring to it now. With esports being a medalled event in the upcoming SEA games, these athletes don’t only get the chance to represent the country in the biggest stage this side of the globe, they also get the chance to bring home some sweet loot! And we’re not talking about just a medal, we’re talking about a cool bundle of cash!
Smart Communications, Inc. has officially partnered with Sibol, the first Philippine National esports team in their bid for SEA Games gold. Aimed at encouraging our national esports athletes to chase after the gold, Smart has launched the “Get Gold!” campaign, which offers cash incentives to Sibol athletes and their coaches and managers for every gold medal won: Php 2 million cash prize for team events (Dota 2, MLBB, AoV), and Php 1 million cash prize for individual events (Tekken 7, Hearthstone, Star Craft).
“This is a huge milestone for esports, and it is our greatest honor to support the best Filipino gamers as they prove that we have the talent, skill, and drive to dominate this increasingly growing scene,” said Alfredo S. Panlilio, PLDT Chief Revenue Officer and Smart President.
Sibol is comprised of veterans in their respective games, brought together to heed the call of flag and country as our representatives. United through the battle cry “Lakad Matatag”, the national team aims for the very top of SEA Games competition, walking strong and proud no matter the challenge. As a stalwart in the Philippine esports and gaming scene, Smart is fully committed in its support to the team through several initiatives.
To further enable Sibol’s quest for gold, Smart has also opened the doors of the Smart Sibol Training Ground to the team, making it their headquarters and fitted with the latest mobile network innovations. The team’s training doesn’t end there, as there will be pocket tournaments and test events in the coming weeks to ensure Sibol is honed to fighting form for the SEA Games.
“We are very happy that Smart is joining us in our first outing with Sibol – no less than the 30th SEA Games! With the combined efforts of Smart and their Get Gold! program, as well as our other partners and the whole country, we believe that Sibol now has taken firm root and will be able to face all challenges that come their way on their path to victory,” said Ms. Jane J. Basas, PSEU co-Chairman and President of Cignal TV and TV5.
