Star Wars: Squadrons officially unveiled, promises cross-play and no microtransactions
EA’s new Star Wars title has been revealed and it’ll take you dogfighting in a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: Squadrons is scheduled to release on October 2 and will feature an immersive experience for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC featuring cross-play between platforms, a single player campaign, and best of all, no microtransations.
Check out the official trailer below:
Star Wars: Squadrons takes place after Return of the Jedi and will allow players to live out their fantasies of taking to the skies in their favorite Star Wars ships. In fact, the game is playable via VR on the PS4 and PC for that full first person experience.
Creative director of Motive Studios Ian Frazier said that “We created this game for every Star Wars fan who has ever dreamt about soaring across the galaxy in their favorite starfighter”.
EA promises a ton of customization, from functional to cosmetic options, but will be attainable through gameplay exclusive means, a far cry from Battlefront II, which was heavily criticized for it’s abundance of microtransactions.
Gameplay will be revealed during EA play on June 18 and pre-orders for the game are available now. Priced at $40 or around PHP2,000, Star Wars: Squadrons will release on October 2 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. No word on a PS5 or Xbox Series X release just yet.
