Between Sony’s PlayStation 5 hardware reveal, its next generation titles, and the first global ad spot, there are still a number of things we can expect leading up to the launch later this year. Even then, Sony is confident with their next-gen offering, saying that it has the best launch lineup in PlayStation history.

Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz, SIE Head of Global Marketing Eric Lempel says that players have a lot to get excited about because “this is the best lineup that we’ve ever seen in the history of PlayStation, between our Worldwide Studios groups and our partners from all the different publishers around the world.”

Lempel continues to say that “We’ve revealed some of that content, and naturally there will be more to come, but the way that the developers can engage with this platform, and create these new experiences with known IP as well as unknown IP, is incredibly exciting.”

While it did suffer quite a blow with Deathloop being delayed to 2021, Spider-Man: Miles Morales will headline the launch lineup for the PlayStation 5 and we can expect more announcements soon, as revealed by Lempel.

Of course with the prevailing conditions brought about by COVID, delays are inevitable but Lempel has doubled down on the fact that the PlayStation 5 will launch this year. Not an easy thing to do, by any means, as Lempel says that getting things on schedule is a “massive challenge on every front, not just for the parts of the organization that I oversee, but for all parts of the organization. The nice thing is that we’re pulling it together. We will launch this year–that will happen–and from my end we will absolutely make sure that we will bring all of the magic and all of the excitement of launches that we have had in the past.”

The PlayStation 5 is scheduled to launch in the Holiday of 2020.
