E3 2021 live event reportedly cancelled
In news that seems to be a surprise to absolutely nobody, a physical E3 2021 event will not be taking place this year, according to reports that the live event has been cancelled by the Board of Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development Commission.
According to a post on the Resetera forums by Rosti, E3 2021 was tentatively scheduled for June 15 but due to the ongoing pandemic, a digital event has been eyed to take its place instead.
You can see the shared image below, as it comes from a presentation that was supposed to be discussed during a board meeting this March:
E3 2020 didn’t push through at all, with big names such as Sony and even Geoff Keighley announcing their non-participation even prior to cancellation. With E3 this year aiming to take on a virtual format, it would be interesting to see if they gain support from the publishers, especially since a lot of other pocket events have already happened to much success.
