Cyberpunk 2077 sells 13.7 Million copies in 2020, refunded only 30K

Cyberpunk 2077 seems to have done very well for itself, despite the barrage of unfortunate events that led to it having an undesirable launch period. In its latest earnings call, CD Projekt Red have revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 has sold a staggering 13.7 million copies in 2020 alone, which confirms a report from back in December.

Interestingly, a number of other details were included in the report, breaking down the 13.7 million copies sold:

  • 56% or 7.67 million copies were sold on PC
  • 28% or 3.84 million copies were sold on PS4
  • 17% or 2.33 million copies were sold on Xbox One

The report also goes on to reveal that only 30,000 refunds were issued, which does not include refunds from PSN or the Microsoft Store, despite offering the option to everybody who had purchased the game.

Business Analyst Mike Futter pointed out that CDPR spent only $2.17 Million on refunds, which is a small amount compared to their net profits of $303 Million. CDPR goes on to say that 95% of the refund requests have already been processed.

CD Projekt Red is continuing to improve the game and efforts will continue throughout the year. The massive 1.2 patch was released just recently, and the company has confirmed that the next-gen versions of both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 will release this year.
