Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut – How to solve the 3 Wind Shrine Puzzles
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is now available and apart from getting a vastly improved gaming experience, a brand new Iki Island DLC headlines the release with new enemies, new locations, and new secrets to unlock.
Among these new secrets in the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Iki Island DLC are 3 Wind Shrines that leave very few clues for the player to solve. Each shrine corresponds to a PlayStation game – Bloodborne, God of War, and Shadow of the Colossus – and once you solve the puzzle presented to you, you’ll get some unique cosmetics that pay great homage to these games.
With this guide, you’ll be on your way to solving all 3 shrines in no time.
Spoiler alert: This guide shows portions of Iki Island, please avoid reading further if you want to uncover the secrets on your own.
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Wind Shrine Puzzle Guide
Blood-stained Shrine
For the Blood-stained Shrine found in the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Iki Island DLC, you’ll want to go to the left-hand part of the map which is near Gonoura Cape. Once there, you’ll find a record on the shrine that reads the following lines:
The first green of spring
sickens to black, decaying,
plagued by blood and beast.
Hunter, reject death’s allure.
Prepare to duel man’s frailty.
You’ll want to equip your Kensei armor before proceeding to the next step of the quest. In case you don’t have it yet, you’ll need to complete a Mythic Tale back in Tsushima first to get this reward.
Once equipped, head over to one of the taller rock formations just beside the shrine and jump down to take damage. Don’t kill yourself! Instead, just damage yourself enough to heal using resolve, which refers to the last 2 lines of the record.
Head on over to the front of the statue and heal yourself, and a short cutscene will occur.
Once the cutscene is finished, you will be awarded the Yharnam Helm and Yharnam to complete the Bloodborne-inspired look.
Shrine in Shadow
For the Shrine in Shadow found in the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Iki Island DLC, head on over to the bottom part of the map just below Buddha’s Footprints. Once there, you’ll find a record on the shrine with the following lines of text that reads:
Stone knows no season,
Nor the colossus that was
felled to save one soul.
Wanderer, come like through mist,
a ghost casting no shadow.
Next, you’ll want to equip the Ghost Armor, which you can get from an Act 2 Story Quest in Tsushima. Once equipped, the rest of the puzzle is pretty easy to solve, and it’ll require you to go in front of the statue and toss a smoke bomb, which refers to the last 2 lines of the record. A short cutscene should occur right after.
If you don’t have a smoke bomb, just fast travel to the nearest town and loot a smoke bomb from the area.
Once the cutscene is over, you will be awarded the Mask of the Colossus and Armor of the Colossus to complete the Shadow of the Colossus-inspired look.
Shrine of Ash
For the Shrine of Ash found in the Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Iki Island DLC, head on over to the right side of the map just above the Yahata Forest. Once there, you’ll find a record on the shrine with the following lines of text that reads:
In fall, a tree fruits
which grows from seed to sapling,
a stranger and son.
Boy, honor your father’s fight.
Show him the strength of your blade.
Next, equip the Sakai Clan Armor, which you can get from an Act 2 Story Quest in Tsushima. Once equipped, all you will need to do is to go in front of the statue and swipe right on the touchpad to unsheathe your katana, which refers to the last 2 lines of the record. A short cutscene should occur right after.
Once the cutscene is over, you will be awarded the Helm of War, Spartan, and Ghost of Sparta to complete the God of War-inspired look.
There you have it, all Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut Wind Shrine puzzles solved and more importantly, brand-new looks for your armor sets. The Bloodborne one, in particular, looks really cool, with feathers and all.
