Haunted Chocolatier is the new game from the creator of Stardew Valley
Fans of Stardew Valley, and of its creator Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) in general, will have another game to look forward to as Haunted Chocolatier made a surprise reveal today.
Haunted Chocolatier looks similar to Stardew Valley in a sense, apart from the main thrust of running a Chocolate Shop inside a haunted castle. Barone shares in his announcement that “Chocolate represents that which is delightful. The haunted castle represents the allure of the unknown. The ghosts represent the imprint of the past. All of these things are important.”
You can view a short video showing early gameplay below:
It’s quite hard to put into words what Haunted Chocolatier is, because Barone himself says he is not sure of how to best describe it. “It’s evolving organically as I develop it, so I’m not sure where it will go. But at its core, the gameplay loop involves gathering ingredients, making chocolate, and running a chocolate shop. Of course, there’s a lot more to the game than that, but I don’t want to get too deep into at this early stage, partly because I don’t want to be tied down to any particular concept of what the game is.”
In any case, we’ll find out more about the game in the weeks and months to come, but fans of Stardew Valley will certainly want to keep an eye out on this one. Might we maybe see some competitive chocolate selling sometime in the future ala Stardew Valley?
