Call Of Duty To Reportedly Remain On PlayStation For ‘At Least’ 3 More Games
With the industry still speculating and wondering what the long-term effects of the recent Activision Blizzard acquisition by Microsoft will be, one big question that’s been looming on everyone’s mind is what will happen to Call of Duty in the next year or so.
Despite vaguely worded statements from all sides not giving away any specifics, a recent report by Bloomberg has something with a bit more detail regarding the situation, saying that Activision Blizzard “will release at least the next three games in its hit Call of Duty franchise on Sony Group Corp.’s PlayStation as well as its new owner’s Xbox. “
Putting that number in further context, the titles are expected to be the new Call of Duty from Infinity Ward later this year (presumably a new Modern Warfare game), a new title from Treyarch next year (presumably a new Black Ops), and a “new iteration” of Warzone, which is referred to by Bloomberg as Warzone 2.

Phil Spencer did mention that all existing agreements will be fulfilled and if that’s the case, then it would be safe to assume that these 3 games were agreed on by Sony and Activision Blizzard prior to the acquisition deal. After that, mentioned by Bloomberg, “Plans are hazier for the Call of Duty games further out.”
Based on history though, if the Bethesda acquisition can be set as a precedent, then we could see Call of Duty go Xbox exclusive in the way Starfield and other games will be exclusive.
