Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Theme Song ‘No Promises to Keep’ Featured on The First Take
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth revealed its theme song, “No Promises to Keep,” last year during The Game Awards. Today, we get a fantastic performance from Loren Allred and Nobuo Uematsu courtesy of The First Take, a Japanese YouTube channel that records a performance in one go, or one take, as the name implies.

Here’s what Allred and Uematsu-san had to say when the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth theme song was first revealed:
“As depicted in the song ʻAerithʼs Theme,ʼ Aerith has had a bit of an ill-fated and ephemeral impression within me,” said Uematsu. “I understood from the beginning that this song is also related to Aerith, but the poignant melody from ʻAerithʼs Themeʼ does not appear in this song. I wanted to depict the opposite of this, the strength at her core, hidden within Aerithʼs heart. As I listened to the recording over and over again once it was finished, Aerith, who until then was a resident of a fantasy world, now began to feel like a real human being in the flesh. Loren Allredʼs vocals, sometimes ephemeral and other times passionate and powerful, surely give life to the existence of Aerith. It has been a while since Iʼve written a ballad that feels uniquely my own, and Iʼm happy to have done so. Thank you, Aerith.”
“I am excited and humbled to bring the iconic Aerithʼs voice to life on ʻNo Promises to Keepʼ in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth,” said Allred. “The composer Nobuo Uematsu is a musical visionary who has brought so much to the world of FINAL FANTASY, and to be able to collaborate with such an innovative talent was an honor. I am so grateful to the Square Enix team and cannot wait for the world to hear this song and to play the game weʼve all been waiting for.”
No Promises to Keep is performed by Allred during the Gold Saucer chapter, where Cloud and the gang find themselves to be part of the Loveless recreation.
