Story Overview
At its core, Stranger Than Heaven is a fifty‑year action‑adventure saga about men with nowhere to go, fighting to survive and striving to thrive as showmen.
The journey begins in San Francisco, 1915, with protagonist Makoto Daito, a boy of mixed heritage facing persecution. After losing his parents, he stows away on a ship bound for Japan, setting off a life‑changing odyssey.

Five Eras, Five Cities
The narrative spans five distinct Japanese cities across different eras:
- 1915 – Kokura, Fukuoka: Industrial foundry town.
- 1929 – Kure, Hiroshima: Naval port with yakuza influence.
- 1943 – Minami, Osaka: Entertainment hub during wartime.
- 1951 – Atami, Shizuoka: Seaside tourist getaway.
- 1965 – Shinjuku, Tokyo: Chaotic pleasure district.

Combat System
Stranger Than Heaven combat emphasizes raw brutality and instinctive control, letting players move Makoto’s left and right sides independently.
Players can chain jabs into crushing blows, counter strikes with one hand while blocking with the other, and even master weapons like knives, hammers, and katanas.
The system evolves across eras, reflecting Makoto’s relentless fight for survival.

Life of a Showman

- Collect sounds from everyday life and battles.
