Resident Evil Requiem – Full PC Performance Review
Capcom’s Resident Evil Requiem was met with anticipation ever since it was first announced at Summer Game Fest one year ago. When the trailer opened with a mysterious introduction of the new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, the game seemed poised to deliver another RE classic. And it sure did, receiving rave reviews from both critics and players alike, hailing it as one of the best Resident Evil titles to date.
Resident Evil Requiem, powered by the ever-evolving RE Engine, blended first- and third-person gameplay through twin protagonists Grace and Leon, bringing horror and action together to great success. Resident Evil Requiem was also praised for its technical optimization, proving that modern AAA horror doesn’t require bleeding-edge hardware to deliver a premium experience.

Resident Evil Requiem – Full PC Performance Review
Capcom’s RE Engine has earned a reputation for scalability, and Resident Evil Requiem is a shining example of what the engine can do when a vision is properly executed. The game’s system requirements are modest, where a GTX 1660 or RX 5500 XT can still deliver 1080p gameplay, while the recommended specs only call for an RTX 2060 Super or RX 6600.
That accessibility sets the stage for our test benches, which span three distinct setups:
| Test Platform | CPU | GPU | RAM |
| High‑Efficiency Laptop (RTX 4050) | AMD Ryzen 9‑7840HS | RTX 4050 6GB | 16GB LPDDR5‑6400 |
| Handheld (ROG XBOX Ally) | AMD Ryzen Z2A | RDNA2 APU | 16GB LPDDR5‑6400 |
| Desktop Benchmark (RTX 3050) | AMD Ryzen 7‑9800X3D | RTX 3050 8GB | 32GB DDR5‑6000 |
Across all systems, Resident Evil Requiem demonstrated consistent frame pacing and minimal deltas between presets, indicating excellent optimization.

RTX 3050 8GB: Old but Gold
The RTX 3050 8GB remains the star of this series. Despite being four years old, it consistently delivered playable frame rates even at high settings. At 1080p without upscaling, the game averaged around 55-60 FPS, depending on the graphics preset. Enabling DLSS to Balanced pushed the average to 67.9 FPS, ensuring smooth gameplay even in intense scenes.
This performance is remarkable for a GPU that sits below the recommended RTX 2060. The RE Engine’s efficiency shines here, as frame pacing remains stable, and the delta between presets (Lowest to Max) is only around 14 FPS. Even at 1440p, the RTX 3050 maintained 33–46 FPS, proving that Resident Evil Requiem scales gracefully across resolutions.

Best Settings Recommendation (RTX 3050):
- Preset: High
- Resolution: 1920×1080
- DLSS: Balanced or Quality
- Ray Tracing: Off
- VSync: Off
- Frame Rate: Variable
The RTX 3050 turns out to be a reliable performer for Resident Evil Requiem, without requiring an upgrade at all.
RTX 4050 Laptop: Modern Efficiency
The RTX 4050 Laptop GPU represents the next step in accessible performance. Even without upscaling, Resident Evil Requiem averaged 60-65 FPS across presets, with 1% lows above 38 FPS. Once DLSS and Frame Generation were enabled, frame rates soared past 80 FPS in some scenes.
The 4050’s 6GB of VRAM enables higher texture and shadow quality without bottlenecks, and DLSS Quality mode maintains crisp visuals while keeping frame times consistent. And if you want to boost performance even higher, you can always turn on Frame Generation.

Best Settings Recommendation (RTX 4050 Laptop):
- Preset: Normal or High
- Resolution: 1920×1080
- DLSS: Quality or Balanced + Frame Generation
- Ray Tracing: Off
This configuration delivers a near‑desktop experience on a thin‑and‑light laptop, which is perfect for titles like Resident Evil Requiem.
ROG XBOX Ally: Handheld Horror
The ROG XBOX Ally, powered by AMD’s Ryzen Z2A APU, is the weakest of the test group, but Resident Evil Requiem still runs admirably. At 1080p with FSR Balanced + Frame Generation, the handheld averaged around 30 FPS.
While the Ally’s 4‑core, 8‑thread configuration limits raw performance, the high pixel density of its 7‑inch display compensates visually. Even when upscaled from 720p to 1080p, the game retains passable clarity, making it decently playable on the go.

Best Settings Recommendation (ROG Ally):
- Preset: Medium
- Resolution: 720p native, upscaled to 1080p
- FSR: Balanced or Performance
- Ray Tracing: Off
- Motion Blur: Off
Taking the horror that Resident Evil Requiem offers on your daily commute or just hanging out at a coffee shop is a great experience, something that we could have only dreamed of before.
The RE Engine Advantage
One of Resident Evil Requiem’s greatest strengths lies in its ability to maintain visual fidelity even at lower presets. The game’s lighting, texture detail, and atmospheric effects remain serviceable across all configurations.
If you need to trade certain settings, note the following below, and how much they affect your PC
| Setting | Low Resource Usage | High Resource Usage |
| Lens Distortion, Depth of Field, Screen Space Reflections | ✅ | |
| Contact Shadows, Ambient Occlusion, VFX Quality | ✅ | |
| Ray Tracing, Hair Strands, Texture Quality | ✅ |
Players can safely disable Ray Tracing and Hair Strands to gain significant performance without noticeable visual loss. Meanwhile, toggles like Lens Distortion and Ambient Occlusion offer some flexibility with minimal impact on frame rate.
The RE Engine proves to be quite the star, allowing the game to scale efficiently and letting players enjoy cinematic horror with little compromise. While playing, Resident Evil Requiem feels surprisingly smooth across all tested setups. The RTX 3050 delivers a cinematic 60 FPS experience with the proper settings, the RTX 4050 laptop pushes into the 80 FPS territory, while the ROG Ally offers a portable version that would surprise many. Unlike twitch shooters or competitive titles, Resident Evil Requiem thrives on tension and atmosphere, meaning that even at 30 FPS, the experience remains engaging.

In a time where many AAA releases stumble on PC, Resident Evil Requiem flips the narrative and shows how ports should be done. The game’s ability to run on GPUs as old as the GTX 1650 while still scaling beautifully on modern hardware is rare, demonstrating technical excellence without requiring high-end systems. Capcom has delivered a port that respects every player’s setup, and that alone is worth celebrating.
Resident Evil Requiem is now available on PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
