Square Enix revealed its Q1 FY2027 financial results, showing revenue growth of 51.8% and operating profit growth of 91.8% year‑over‑year.
The company credited its digital entertainment division, which covers HD console, MMO, and mobile/PC games, as the primary driver of success.

Physical vs Digital Split
In the report, it was noted that based on sales figures from April 1 to June 30, downloaded sales reached a staggering 90.1% (6.65M) over 9.9% from packaged unit sales (730K). This follows the same trend from other publishers like Sony and Capcom.
Square Enix Console Sector Success
The HD games segment saw strong momentum thanks to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, which continues to perform well globally, and the new IP The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, which has quickly established itself as a profitable console release.
Catalogue titles also saw improved sales compared to last year, further boosting revenue.

MMO & Mobile Growth
On the MMO side, Final Fantasy XIV reported increased revenue and player activity, though profit margins were tempered by expansion‑related expenses.
Meanwhile, live‑service titles like Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest Smash/Grow were highlighted as major contributors to both revenue and profit, underscoring Square Enix’s strength in sustaining long‑term engagement.
