NetEase Games’ Everstone Studio and Funtap Games hosted the “When the Wind Rises” launch event in Hanoi on September 7, ahead of the game’s official release on September 10.
The free‑to‑play open‑world wuxia ARPG arrives with Vietnamese localization, optimized mobile controls, and cross‑platform progression across PC, console, and mobile.

Where Winds Meet – Strategic Partnership with Funtap Games
At the event, NetEase and Funtap signed a strategic partnership agreement to deepen local services, covering servers, customer support, and community operations. A Creator Fund for Where Winds Meet was also announced, pledging dedicated investment to support Vietnamese and Southeast Asian content creators.
Joy Chen, SEA Publishing Lead, emphasized that the Vietnam launch is “only the starting point,” with upcoming story updates, sect chapters, regional maps, and anniversary events planned.

Global Success and Awards
Since its global debut, Where Winds Meet has reached over 250,000 concurrent players on Steam and surpassed 15 million overseas players in its first month. The game has already rolled out three expansions — Hexi, Imperial Palace, and Hidden Mountain — and now boasts a global player base of 100 million.
At gamescom 2026, the title won Best Mobile Game, cementing its place as one of the year’s standout releases.

Cinematic Wuxia Combat
To deliver authentic martial arts action, Everstone Studio collaborated with legendary action directors Stephen Tung Wai and Yuen Woo‑ping (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, The Matrix). Players can wield swords, spears, rope darts, umbrellas, and fans, combining traditional and unconventional weapons with Tai Chi techniques, pressure‑point strikes, and Lightness Skills for traversal and combat.
Fair‑Play Philosophy
The developers reaffirmed their no pay‑to‑win policy: storylines, maps, and martial arts progression are free, while paid items remain purely cosmetic. Select cosmetics can also be earned through in‑game events, ensuring a balanced competitive environment.
