CD Projekt Red Studio Head responds to mandatory crunch reports
After the shocking news earlier in the day, CD Projekt Red Studio Head Adam Badowski responds to the mandatory crunch report from Bloomberg.
Practically confirming the incident, Badowski took to social media to clear things, saying that this was the hardest decision he’s had to make but assured everybody that everyone is well compensated for the 6 week final push to launch.
The initial report from Bloomberg broke the news about a studio-wide email that was sent, enforcing a mandatory crunch period to finish off the remaining bugs and glitches of the game, especially since CDPR have passed on the game to Sony and Microsoft for certification already.
The main point of contention was that the studio had initially promised to not put the employees through crunch last year, only to break that statement today.
For those unfamiliar, ‘crunch’ is a term used when employees are needed to pull extra hours to hit certain deadlines. To some extent, almost every industry has some sort of crunch and it has only been magnified even more by the unusual arrangements that everyone has had to deal with due to the prevailing COVID conditions around the world.
Cyberpunk is currently scheduled to launch on November 19 for the PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, and PC.
