Already a major player in the US, Microsoft is now setting their sights on Asia, a market that it is now trying to expand into, if a job listing is any indication.
Based on a LinkedIn entry, Microsoft is hiring for a “Gaming Marketing Lead” that will be based in Singapore. With Xbox now being a premier player in the scene due to the meteoric rise of Game Pass, this position will have the responsibility to “Drive omni-channel marketing campaigns, including direct to consumer and thru partner to drive the Gaming business for Xbox across the region.”
Microsoft has mostly struggled in the region for the past few outings, but with a strong performance bannered by its latest Series S and Series X offerings, the company is poised to make waves.
Other responsibilities from the position will be to set the “overall gaming marketing communications strategy for the region to ensure a level of global consistency yet local relevancy for each country/market (Japan, Korea, SEA, India, Australia & New Zealand)” and to “Collaborate across world-wide and regional teams to ensure that business and marketing goals are tightly aligned to achieve overall business objectives.”
If this job opening is any indication, Microsoft could be seeing huge growth potential in the region, and we can only imagine that this could only mean good things for Xbox fans and what it could mean for future Game Pass subscribers in Asia.
