Resident Evil Village launches on May 7, reveals multiplayer details and current-gen console availability
As was announced last week, the Resident Evil Village showcase premiered today to the delight of the fans, revealing tons of new info about the latest title in the series, including the release date, which is scheduled to launch on May 7, 2021. Other details also announced were the official multiplayer reveal called Re:Verse, and the launch for both current and next-gen consoles.
Re:Verse Multiplayer
One detail announced during the show was the official reveal of the multiplayer mode called Re:Verse, which was actually leaked hours prior to the event by the Humble Bundle site. This mode is free with every purchase of the Resident Evil Village game, similar to Resistance, and will “feature striking comic-style visuals and sets popular Resident Evil characters against each other in four to six-player deathmatch battles in iconic Resident Evil locations. Players can choose from a fan-favorite roster, each with their own unique skillsets to master. When players are defeated in combat, their character respawns by mutating into a bioweapon to enact revenge on their foes.”
Collector’s Edition and Pre-order bonuses
Pre-order bonuses have also been revealed and will include a Mr. Raccoon Weapon Charm, a Survival Resources Pack, and a Resident Evil Village Mini Soundtrack. For the Deluxe Edition, a “Trauma Pack” will serve as a bonus and “includes memorabilia such as the “Samurai Edge” weapon, the “Mr. Everywhere” accessory, a screen filter, special safe room background music, and many more items to amplify your Resident Evil Village experience.”
A Collector’s Edition was also unveiled and will cost a whopping $219.99 (around PHP11,000), and will include the following items:
- Collectible Box
- Steelbook
- Poster
- Trauma Pack in-game code
- Artbook
- Chris Figure
Pre-orders are available now.
Current-gen Release and Free Upgrade
The biggest surprise is that Resident Evil: Village will be available on current-gen consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One X|S. After hinting that it would release on the PS4 and Xbox One, Capcom made true to its promise and officially announced that the game will not be exclusive to next-gen consoles so that more people can enjoy the upcoming title.
Players who choose to purchase the game for the current-gen consoles will have a free upgrade to the next-gen consoles.
