PlayStation exclusive no more, Horizon Zero Dawn seemingly headed to PC
In an unprecedented move, reports are pointing to Horizon Zero Dawn being released for the PC. What was once a PlayStation exclusive, this could possibly mean the end of exclusives moving forward, a massive chip that Sony once had over other competitors.
Sources tell Kotaku that “This news comes from three people familiar with Sony’s plans, all speaking anonymously because they were not authorized to talk to press.”
Horizon Zero Dawn is a gem of a game when it was released back in 2017, bringing massive success to Guerilla Games. With this move, this is the first time we’ll be seeing a Sony published title make it’s way to a different platform. While still not on the Xbox, a wider audience in the PC market will be able to enjoy the game once a more concrete schedule has been announced.
Is the era of exclusives finally over? Will other titles like God of War and Uncharted make their way out to PC as well? Final Fantasy 7 Remake is currently a timed exclusive for 1 year, so the future strategy of keeping it for an amount of time could be in play, which in turn will lead to more profit for the studio and Sony while at the same time driving hardware sales.
In the end, it’s the gamers that will benefit most from this arrangement, as most everyone will get to experience these masterpieces across different platforms.
