Tokyo Game Show 2020 is officially cancelled due to COVID-19, online event planned
To no surprise, the Tokyo Game Show originally scheduled for September 24-27, is now cancelled to prevent the spread COVID-19.
This was announced by the organizers from a formal press release that states the following:
Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on
a global scale and the situation remains unpredictable in Japan
as well, the organizer and the co-organizers have reached
this decision after a long consideration to place the utmost
priority on the health and safety of visitors, exhibitors
and stakeholders. We ask for your kind understanding and cooperation.
At the moment, almost all major game events this year have been cancelled like E3 and Gamescom. Instead, online events like IGN’s Summer of Gaming, Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest, Gamespot’s Play for All, and EA Play will be taking charge.
Xbox also has 20/20, promising monthly updates leading to the launch of the Series X. You can view all of their announcements from the first show HERE.
