Spider-Man may be a PlayStation exclusive character for the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers game
With Hawkeye being announced as the first free DLC character that Marvel’s Avengers will have post-launch, the game is ramping up a bit with the sort of information that is being released by Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics. Due to a recent retailer slip up, it may be so that Spider-Man could be an upcoming DLC character for the game that would be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.
Base.com, a UK based retailer, put up a description for the soon to be released title that seemingly places Spider-Man as an upcoming character in the game. Whether the character will be a paid DLC or a free update is not the concern, but the fact that the PlayStation version of the game will have exclusive content that the other platforms won’t have.
The listing has now been removed, but super fast internet sleuths have gotten a screenshot of the listing. An archived page can also be seen here:
Spider-Man is hugely popular and this will be a big thing if proven true. The PlayStation version of the game will already have certain advantages, like getting to experience the beta ahead of everybody else, so this could stand as another possible come on for PS4 version. Of course, as no official announcement has been made, do take this with a grain of salt.
If you’re on the fence about the game, the upcoming beta test will certainly put your mind at ease. For PlayStation pre-orders, the beta starts on August 7. Xbox and PC pre-orders follow on August 14 and open beta for everyone will start on August 21.
Marvel’s Avengers is scheduled to release on September 4 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
