Some first party PlayStation 5 games will be priced at $70
Now that pricing details for the PlayStation 5 have finally been revealed as well as the accessories that come along with it, we now get a fuller picture of how much we’ll need to spend to keep gaming into the next generation.
According to the PlayStation Blog, some of the first party titles from Sony will retail for $70 (around PHP3,500), which is a $10 increase from the usual $60 games from the current generation.
The list of PlayStation Studios games that will be available on launch, as well as their prices, are as follows:
- Astro’s Playroom (Japan Studio) – Bundled with PS5
- Demon’s Souls (Bluepoint Games / Japan Studio) – $69.99 (around PHP3,500)
- Destruction All Stars (Lucid Games / XDEV) – $69.99 (around PHP3,500)
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (Insomniac Games) – $49.99 (around PHP2,500)
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition (Insomniac Games) – $69.99 (around 3,500)
- Sackboy A Big Adventure (Sumo Digital / XDEV) – $59.99 (around PHP3,000)
NBA 2K21 also follows the same trend, and will cost $70 once it is release for the next-generation consoles.
With the coming of the PlayStation 5, it may be understandable that development costs may be higher as well, since there will be new features and hardware power that the devs can take advantage of, hence the increase in pricing. To make the eventual hit easier to take, the option to offer free next-gen upgrades will be more important than ever for gamers.
Seems like $70 will be the “new normal” for game prices when the next-generation goes into full swing and with these prices, it could be hard for a lot of gamers out there to justify certain purchases on a monthly basis.
