Xbox Series X and Series S will support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision
Both the Xbox Series X and Series S will be the first consoles to feature Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, as announced by renowned audio specialists Dolby.
The latest innovation from Dolby, Atmos “puts you in the middle of the action by precisely placing each sound all around you in three-dimensional space, so you can quickly pinpoint its location in the game — before it’s too late”. It aims to provide a much deeper level of immersion, not only stopping at surround sound but even from top to bottom.
Dolby Vision will “unlock the most realistic and lifelike visuals the game has to offer, with brightness, contrast, color, and depth that goes beyond even traditional HDR games“. This places more emphasis on highs and lows, with 40x brighter highlights and 10x deeper blacks, allowing colors and images to be vividly translated to your screen.
You can expect games like Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Cyberpunk 2077, Gears 5, Call of Duty: Warzone, and F1 2020 to support Dolby Atmos when they launch.
With this additional technology packed into both the Series X and Series X, that $499 and $299 price tag sounds more enticing than ever.
