Nintendo Switch Online Might Be Adding Game Boy Titles Soon According To A Leak
The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack has been seeing a steady drip of content lately, with the recent addition of titles like Majora’s Mask and Mario Golf. While the additions have been a bit slow, things may pick up pace as it seems the service might be adding Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance titles soon.
Twitter user Trash_Bandatcoot shared that apparently, some files that point to a Nintendo-developed Game Boy and Game Boy Advance emulator have leaked, and may indicate that some things on that front are happening. Trash_Bandatcoot also points out that these aren’t just ordinary files and that they are indeed working as intended.
The leak appeared in 4chan, which is usually known to be a dubious place for information like this, but it seems that both emulators seemed to have been developed by a Nintendo subsidiary in Europe called “Nintendo Europe Research & Development,” the same group behind the DS and Wii emulators for the Wii U and the NES and SNES classics. Gamedev from Night Dive Studio and Limited Run Games MVG has expressed his concern about the leaks being true.
Possible Nintendo Switch Online GBA Titles
Twitter user MondoMega also shared a list of Game Boy Advance titles that have been ‘tested’ but stated that launching them is not a certainty, with tested being the operative word.
You can see the full list below:
As with all rumors and leaks, this is to be taken with a grain of salt since there has been no official announcement from Nintendo just yet. Although that is the case, the possibility of this happening might not be too far from the truth since it seems that Nintendo is steadily adding content to the Nintendo Switch Online service to make it an appealing proposition to would-be subscribers.
The addition of Game Boy titles to the already impressive list that it has will surely make for an irresistible offer, but caution must still be exercised until an official announcement has been made.
What do you think about this news? Will the Nintendo Switch Online subscription add Game Boy titles soon?
