Next Assassin’s Creed Game Rumored to be set in Baghdad
New rumors about the next Assassin’s Creed have been picking up over the past few days, with a credible insider spilling the beans on the setting of the next game.
Jeremy Penter, widely known as ACG in the gaming community, put up what looked to be like a definitive statement about the next game in the series, saying that it will be Aztecs, referring to the setting and timeline.
“Next AC game will be Aztecs,” said Penter in a short tweet.
While Penter has had put out some credible takes in the past, another credible insider has gone on to refute this claim.
Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has replied to a thread over at the Gaming Leaks and Rumors subreddit, providing new information about the new setting of the game that will feature Basim from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
Pointing back to his report from February, which mentioned that the upcoming title is code-named “Rift”, Schreier states that the game will be set in Baghdad and that it will come before AC Infinity, Ubisoft’s live service take on the series.
Schreier continues to say that none of the experiences included in the upcoming titles won’t be Aztec.
As with rumors, nothing is set in stone yet until Ubisoft announces something official, which might happen on their Ubisoft Forward show set in September.
For now, all we can do is wait and imagine, and Baghdad does seem quite a compelling setting to visit, considering that Assassin’s Creed Origins and Bayek was a game that was praised by many players.
