Star Wars: Squadrons has no plans for DLC
EA’s latest foray into the Star Wars universe is finally here and after the promise of no microtransactions, the game has been met with a lot of positive feedback. We’re still getting our feet wet in the game and enjoying the customization options, so you can expect a review soon. It seems though that what we’re playing at the moment will be left untouched, as Star Wars: Squadrons has no plans for DLC.
In an interview with Upload VR, Creative Director Ian Frazier shot down a question about DLC, basically saying that the final game is already in the hands of the players.
“Never say never, so to speak, but as far as our philosophy goes we’re not trying to treat the game as a live service. We don’t want to say, ‘It’s almost done!’ and then dribble out more of it over time, which to be honest is how most games work these days. So we’ve tried to treat it in kind of an old-school approach saying, ‘You’ve paid the $40, this is the game and it’s entirely self-contained. We’re not planning to add more content, this is the game, and we hope you understand the value proposition.’”
There could possibly be patches or bug fixes in the future, but additional content is not something that the team has plans for. In a time of games not being “complete” upon launch, this comes as sort of a welcome change, especially from EA.
Star Wars: Squadrons is now available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
