Square Enix has announced that a playable demo of Star Ocean The Second Story R is now available for players who are interested in the upcoming remake.

The demo will include three cities, two dungeons, and two bosses and will give players an in-depth
look into the opening hours of the game. Players will also be able to choose their protagonist, battle with three party members, and enjoy new features such as ‘Assault Action’ and ‘Break’.

The demo can be played for up to three hours on a single save data file, and three save data files can be created. Once characters reach level 12, no EXP, FOL, SP, or BP will be obtained, and access to certain maps will not be available.

Additionally, a new gameplay trailer was also revealed, which delivers an extensive overview and displays many new elements that evolved from the original game.

Along with the new fight components like “Break” and “Assault Action,” the video also shows the evolution of systems such as “Item Creation” (IC) and “Private Action” (PA).

Star Ocean The Second Story R is scheduled to release on November 2, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC via Steam.
